Policy for Disabled Visitors to the Mid Devon Show
The Mid Devon Town and Country Show Society welcomes disabled visitors to the Mid Devon showground and is committed to improving accessibility for all of our visitors.
The Society welcomes any observations for further practical improvements.
An area will be set aside adjacent to Brown Gate pedestrian access for those with limited mobility. We regret that once this area is full that parking is only available with the remainder of public vehicles, however, the Stewards will provide every assistance in finding a parking space as close as possible to the entrance.
To improve access around the showground to those visitors with limited mobility, The Tiverton & District Community Transport Association have kindly agreed to provide a Shopmobility wheelchair and electric scooter service.
Customers are strongly advised to book equipment in advance. Please contact direct on 01884 242099 or to email at dave.griffey@tdcta.org.uk for further information
First Aid on the showground will be provided by St John Ambulance. They will be stationed at strategic points around the showground so that no-one is too far away from assistance, in addition roving First Aiders will also be on duty. Their main base will be at Brown Gate, one of the main pedestrian entry points. First Aid posts will be annotated on all maps.
Whilst every consideration is given to making the whole showground easily accessible to all, please bear in mind that it is an agricultural field and for most of the year is part of a working farm. Also part of the showground is on sloping ground and consequently some degree of effort will be required to push a wheelchair.
Disabled toilet facilities will be available at sites where other main public conveniences are situated on the showground in addition there will be a facility at the Disabled parking area.
A separate area will be fenced off for the specific purpose of allowing those people confined to chairs to have an improved view of the Main Ring activities.
Officially recognised organisations for the disabled may apply to the Show Organiser for concessionary tickets for disabled visitors and their attendants/carers. Applications should be made in June to allow time for consideration.
